Bonding

Bonding – Port City Family Dentistry

In dentistry, the term bonding refers to the rebuilding of a tooth using synthetic material that is roughly the same in hardness and is indifferent in appearance. Bonding is typically suggested when a tooth is chipped, has a gap, needs a filling (due to a cavity), protect exposed roots, and others. It is a fairly quick and fairly common procedure which does not typically require the use of anesthetics. Dentists are allowed great accuracy in shaping the new tooth material because it does not harden until it is exposed to an ultraviolet light.
