Sometimes people just aren’t happy with how their smile looks, or perhaps a tooth is too long, shaped oddly, or has been slightly damaged. In these cases some people opt for what is called cosmetic contouring. This process is simply “fixing” the shape of a person’s teeth by removing small portions of tooth matter with a precision laser or sanding drill, and fine-tuning the shape via manual sanding. It is safe, not painful, does not require anesthesia, and actually has medical advantages in preventing chipped teeth from becoming further damaged.
