Sealants

Sealants – Port City Family Dentistry

Dental sealant are layers of plastic that are used for aesthetic purposes, as well as creating a protective layer against plaque. The substance of sealant is different from that of veneer, which accomplishes a similar task. Sealants are almost always placed on the back teeth (i.e. molars) to aid in chewing. This procedure acts as a proactive measure against decay and disease, and to a certain extent, physical damage. It does not help at all if the patient’s teeth are already decayed.
